Think back in history to the era of the American Revolution. Imagine the days when we walked on cobble-stoned pavement, and had our news delivered by the local towns crier. This will tell you the theme of Marriott's Club at Ford's Colony.
Upon entering the grounds of this historically decorated resort, you're greeted with rich American architecture in pure Colonial style. One and two bedroom villas with full amenities make up the accommodations here. The villas are nicely decorated with sturdy wall coverings, and wood paneling. They come arranged in one bedroom / one bath, and two bedroom / two bath format. Furnishings have an old world charm, and feature styles such as Queen Anne & Chippendale.
There are lots of walking tours to be done away from the resort, but you will need a car to get around well. The hotel is away from the attractions, but that can be a good thing because it is not in the middle of noise and chaos.
One thing to mention is that the villas are under a major renovation. Construction is scheduled through March of 2009. Hopefully, it will not negatively affect the operation of the hotel, or the comfort of its guests. The hotel has an interesting assortment of amenities that it offers. Guests can enjoy a nearby barber shop, a video game room, and a 20-seat theater.
There is one dining option to mention at this resort. It is Ford's Colony Country Club Harry's Tavern, a casual restaurant that is open for lunch and offers American cuisine. It seems that there is as much to do and enjoy around the city as there is that the hotel has to offer. It is a good place to relax, and unwind but for an exciting time I would consider the happenings nearby.
