Myrtle Beach Vacations – Exploring the Grand Strand Beaches

Myrtle Beach vacations are more and more popular – and with little wonder. Myrtle Beach offers everything that an ocean community by the beautiful Atlantic should – miles and miles of powdery white beaches, fun packed adventures and activities, fishing, golfing, and a non-stop night life. It may be the best known Grand Strand destination, but there are other beaches close by that are almost as beloved and are must-sees for your vacation.

The main beach in the area, offers vacationers tons of activities for fun in the sun, including:

– Family Kingdom Amusement Park – for thrill rides on the beach and a world class water park for cooling down afterward.
– State Park
– Broadway at the Beach
– Family Mini Golf
– Pavilion Amusement Park
– Ripley's Believe it Or Not Haunted Adventure and Moving Theater
– Ripley's Aquarium
– South Beach Adventure

Should you tire of everything that's happening on the main beach, more fun is in store nearby at North Myrtle Beach, which is famous for its entertainment and shopping complex, Barefoot Landing – which is home to hundreds of shops, factory stores and water front restaurants , including the world famous House of Blues. You'll also find the Alabama Theater, which is infamous in the area for its Vegas-style shows and performances, and Alligator Adventure, for those who are looking to walk on the wild side. North Myrtle Beach is preferred by many tourists because it is much less crowded than the main beach, and having more elbow-room can enhance the vacation experience. You'll also find premier golfing on North Myrtle Beach, including the Eagle Nest course which boasts some of the toughest finishing holes on the East Coast.

Just four miles to the south of the beach, you'll find Surfside Beach, which is affectionately known as the Family Beach and is within close distance to the most important attractions without the crowding that is typical of the more populated beaches. Enjoy peace and serenity on Surfside Beach, perfect for bathing in the sun, searching for seashells, or fishing from Surfside Pier. You'll also find great eateries on Surfside Beach, as well as Wild Water and Wheels Theme Park, Adventure Falls mini golf, Tupelo Bay Golf Center, and Shoreline Watersports for parasailing. And when you put the kiddies to bed, night life beckons on Surfside Beach with seven local night clubs that feature music, dancing and fun.

Head on over four miles south of Surfside Beach and eight miles south of Myrtle Beach proper and you'll find Garden City Beach – the perfect spot for swimming in the vast Atlantic. Garden City Beach is a wonderful stop on your vacation where you can rent equipment for water sports, or take a fishing charter from the Marlin Quay Marina, or simply fish from the pier.

Whichever beach or beaches you frequent on your Myrtle Beach vacation, one thing is certain – you'll want to return again and again – which is why some families make this destination their annual vacation spot.
